The fire door, also called pcf is a fire resistant door.

It is used for the purpose of ensuring fire protection, also preventing the passage of fire or smoke between compartments. Facilitates the escape of people and rescues.
Fire doors are used in various locations on a day-to-day street, such as shopping malls, theaters, cinemas, among others.

It is also indicated for office entrances, refuge areas (bunkers), antechambers and separation of risk areas. Places of restricted access, or that communicate directly with escape routes, access to walkways and intercommunications between buildings. Access to equipment, protection and transformation of electricity.

It is required in commercial or residential buildings, industrial, maritime facilities, among other projects.

Being a safe product, if not subject ed to periodic maintenance and verification it may lose its characteristics and not fulfill its main function.

Law 220/2008 establishing the legal regime for fire safety in buildings entered into force in January 2009.

This law is regulated by ordinance 1532/2008.

Among other legal obligations, the new law establishes the obligation to periodically check the fire-extinguishing elements in buildings, similar to what had previously happened with fire extinguishers.

These elements include, for example, the doors that are the staircase between the stairs and the elevators.
